School Holidays and Major Breaks 2026-2027
There are several planned breaks during the academic year. Families can use these periods to coordinate childcare, family travel and activities outside school.
Thanksgiving break
Thanksgiving break runs across the week of November 23-27, 2026. Students are off for the full week, while the calendar specifically identifies November 26 and 27 as School System Closed days.
Winter break
Winter break begins after the end of the first semester in December. Students have a scheduled break over the holiday period, with classes resuming in January. The calendar also includes teacher workdays immediately before students return, so families should not assume that the first working day of the new year is also the first day back for students.
Spring break
Spring break takes place in March 2027. It falls between the third and fourth quarters and is followed by a teacher workday that may be used as a student makeup day if needed. Families planning spring travel should leave room for any official calendar changes.
Other school-system closures
The calendar identifies additional School System Closed days during the year, including Labor Day and the January and February closures listed in the main table. These dates should be distinguished from teacher workdays, when students may be off but district employees may still have scheduled duties.
Teacher Workdays and Student Makeup Days
There are several teacher workdays that may also serve as student makeup days if needed. These are conditional dates, not automatically confirmed student attendance days.
Families should pay particular attention to this distinction when arranging travel, camps or childcare. If the district activates a makeup day, the usual school schedule may change. Check the latest official calendar and district announcements before making plans that depend on a non-school day.
